The
Grisons have been known of old for their lakes, rivers and
brooks providing rich fishing grounds. Everywhere at the many
different altitudes of this multiform mountain area, streams
large and small and quiet lakes promise the most beautiful
catches.
Nature dealt her gifts to the Grisons with incomparable
generosity: a widespread web of water bodies gathering from
countless, wild mountain brooks and small, gurgling streams into
ebulient rivers.
Without exageration the fishing opportunities presenting
themselves in this alpine wonderland may be called
inexhaustible: enticing, hidden banks, quiet and peaceful coves
along dreamy mountain lakes, brooks playfully meandering through
meadows and forests, and torrents roaringly flowing into the
valley. They all compound the leisurely fisher's and hiker's
excitement and delight.
This text which in the 1950ies appeared in the brochure
"Sportfishing in the Grisons" still holds true today.
St. Moritz, the Engadine, even all of the Grisons is deemed
a veritable fisher's paradise. This is a unique fishing range in
Europe standing at your disposal. Whether in one of the 460
mountain lakes of the Grisons or along the banks of the lake of
St. Moritz: our waters are replete with mountain trout,
perch, char and many others. The fishing season in the Upper
Engadine opens at the beginning of May and ends in mid
September. Fishing licenses for a day or a week are available at
reasonable prices. |
