The resorts we are referring to in this
story are Crans, Montana and Aminona. Crans and Montana are
virtually geographical twins. |
Aminona is just a jaunt down the road and
does not boast any of the shopping and nightlife benefits that its two
partners flaunt. However many folks like it just like that, thank you
very much, and, what do you know, it is connected with and easy to get
to all of the major ski areas anyway. Isn't skiing what you came here
for in the first place? Lets have a look at what you might expect if
you visit Crans - Montana this winter.
Crans and Montana, two adjoining
villages above the city of Sierre and about 160 Kms from
Geneva and 280 or so from Zurich, combine in more ways than
simply ski lift compatibility. In order to give you some idea
of this combination, we will first have to give you a bit of a
statistical rundown. There are a whopping 40,000 beds
available to visitors in the combined area. Conversely the
combined resorts boast a relatively modest 160 Kms of ski
terrain.
You see, Crans Montana is
truly an up-market resort, and, as such, skiing is not the
"life and death" must-do-at-all-cost pursuit that it is in
many other resorts. You will find activities such as bridge
and ballooning, curling and hiking, snowboarding and skibobing
that will interest visitors almost as much as the skiing. And
if that doesn't dilute the masses enough, there are always
those who just want to be in the mountains in winter, relax in
their first class hotels, and enjoy the fresh air outside.
