Haute Nendaz General Overview

Nendaz, formerly known as Haute Nendaz is part of a super collection of Swiss ski resorts known as the 4 Valleys.  The lift pass system includes, Veysonnaz, Verbier and Thyon 2000 on the same ticket.  As an "item", they make up one heck of a formidable array of skiing.  But even on its own, Nendaz is a pretty formidable resort.  It is possible to ski the whole lot or just to buy a ticket for Nendaz.  If you are not a strong skier it is probably best if you stay in your own back yard.

The glacier on Mont Fort in Verbier provides not only the year round skiing for the area, but some of the most challenging as well.  The inter resort lift connections are excellent, so you can stay pretty well anywhere you want, and still enjoy the whole network of ski runs.

For beginners Nendaz offers a couple of gentle areas well out of harms way, and for experts the place is a veritable paradise.  For those in between get a lift map and choose carefully.  There is plenty of good middle ground, but this is a big area.  If you are skiing far away from your home base head for home in plenty of time.  Theroad home to Nendaz from Verbier for example can be very difficult after a long day on the slopes.

There are we believe a good number of choices in the ski pass system.  One is a local Nendaz version which is best suited to weaker skiers unlikley to get full value from the big version.  The latter can be had including Mont Fort or not, your choice.  A good bit of money could be involved here, so it is best to check it out first.

There is a good, but not a "wild and woolly" night life in Nendaz.

Smaller and more controllable then Verbier, it is often easier to meet your fellow skiers, if that what turns you on.  To reach Nendaz by car look for Martigny and then Sion.  It is just up the hill from there.  Geneva is the best airport, but again this is Switzerland and just about any landing pad will do.
