Our biennial Cartoon Festival excels at highlighting the humorous. And Kirchner Museum, with the world's largest collection of works by expressionist artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner already enjoys international renown. Another popular attraction among visitors are our Museums of Local History, Culture, Winter Sports, dolls and toys and medicine.

Kirchner Museum

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938) lived in Davos from 1917 until his death. His great work is considered to have exercised a pioneering influence on German expressionism. The Kirchner Museum was opened in September 1992 and represents the most comprehensive collection of the artist's work in the world. The museum building was designed by two Zürich architects: Annette Gigon and Mike Guyer. Its unadorned yet clearly articulated style is held in high esteem in international architectural circles.

Local Museum of Davos
The museum is in an old and for this region typical house especially suited thanks to its individuality and beauty to conserve and exhibit the rich collection of old objects and documents. It also hostsmany special exhibitions.

Winter Sports Museum
The old Post Office's central location makes it the most appropriate place to present the very large collection of winter sport's equipment and documents donated by the Jürg Kaufmann family, Davos. The well-preserved exhibits (sleds, bobsleds, skis, skates, curling material, etc.) documenting the history of winter sports from its very beginnings to the present day deserve special attention.

Toy Museum
The museum displays on two floors the privat collection of Angela Praders with cultural historical toys, with originally-clothed dolls, doll houses and miniatures (18th - 20th century). Important model construction of the sanatorium "Zauberberg", known from the novel "The Magic Mountain" written by Thomas Mann, with furniture and figures.
New: museum coffee shop.

Mining Museum of the Grisons
The Mining Museum of the Grisons is situated at Schmelzboden near the Davos Monstein railway station. It is housed in the historical administration building constructed in the early 1900s, which, before a landslide in 1933, was twice as large as nowadays. The museum displays: ores, mining objects, photos, documents and many plans from the various earlier mines throughout the whole canton. The display gives visitors a lasting impression of the first industry of our homeland in the earlier centuries.

Medicine Museum

The documentation of Davos's medical-scientific development foundation has made it its duty to document and preserve the tools, x-ray images, and files reflecting best the work of the physicians and scientists in Davos. The collection is a welcome addition to the documentation library. It is accessible for studies to all persons interested in historic, social, scientific, and medical problems.

Local museum with genuine living and bed rooms, kitchen, and loom of 19th century Wiesen. Changing exhibits.
