| Nature from a bird's eye view An exceptional week with balloon joyrides over the Alps. On March 1, 1999 Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones set off from Chateau-d'Oex for the first non-stop, round-the-world flight in a balloon. They landed in Dakhla, Egypt, on March 21. For more than 20 years Montgolfier fans have decorated the skies above Chateau-d' Oex. At the end of January the International Hot-Air Balloon Week reunites the best of the world's hot-air balloon pilots. It is an exceptional event, a colorful sky ballet, a delightful fete with hot-air balloon pilots, organizers and the public, all joining in the fun and festivities. This magical week will extend throughout the whole year because Chateau d'Oex offers passenger flights at any time. When you discover the world from high above in a basket, you cannot help but be carried away in ecstacy. |
