The skiing
in Andermatt cannot, in any way, be described as big. What with only
56km of prepared slopes, the resort, in fact may indeed be considered
small.
But the number of prepared slopes is not everything, especially in
this case. It's where they are that matters, and in Andermatt they are
very well located indeed.
First of all these 56 KMs. are all but guaranteed to have snow on them
from Dec. 'til May. Nothing less could be expected from a resort that
is at an altitude of just about 1,500m
Given that Andermatt is a high mountain resort, it might be reasonable
to expect that the skiing is difficult and dangerous. Not so. There is
ample good skiing for totally inexperienced skiers, for moderately
experienced skiers, and those who see themselves as experts.
Information for
Travel in Andermatt
The higher elevations here are in fact very taxing runs, and are best
suited for better skiers. Beginners will enjoy themselves more on the
Grossboden, and intermediates just about anywhere else.
