Winter and Summer activities

Enjoy the outdoors! There is plenty to do in Andermatt both winter and summer, if you like the outdoors and sports that is. For the non-skier they have little to offer in the winter but there's ice skating, an indoor swimming pool and of course the pretty village to look at.

During the summer there is fishing, hunting, over 500 km of walks and climbing.

Eating in Andermatt is probably best in some of the restaurants in the village, try to avoid the mountain restaurants. One that is recommended is at the foot of the off-piste run from Gemsstock down into Hospental.

After ski is a must in one of the local bars and restaurants, try the Ochsen for its atmosphere. If you want to keep on partying go to the Downhill where it's bound to be some dancing going on

Stunning mountain terrain
The beautiful terrain combined with the old lift systems gives you a different winter experience. The new fallen snow is known to stay longer than in most places and you'll get the chance to improve your powder skiing.

The four different areas are all quite advanced, but the Gemsstock offers two long blacks in the north-facing bowl from the top cable car. There's lot's of vertical off-piste and the resort has guides, safaris and heli-skiing. For the snowboarder there's a half pipe, a Snowboard Park and powder.

There's still hope though for intermediates and beginners. Winterhorn and Nätschen have all levels of difficulty and Realp has one isolated nursery slope.  Cross-country skiiers can do the 20-km loop between Realp and Andermatt.
