Adelboden/Lenk General Overview

Skiers from far away lands often tend to go only to those resorts that are "household names" as far as European ski resorts are concerned. Mores the pity, as they are sure to miss some delightful little gems.

The Swiss resorts of Adelboden and Lenk would surely fit into this category. Although not listed in any "who's who" of resorts, these two are winners and worthy of consideration. There is plenty to recommend them, and not least the tremendous amount of skiing they share on one lift pass.

Try 200 kilometers of slopes serviced by 50 lifts just for starters. The area is ski able to an altitude of just over 2,100m in most places with good access to runs of varying degrees of difficulty accessible from most lifts.

Most recreational skiers will find that the twin area is not too intimidating. Cross Country skiers will especially enjoy the on-mountain trails which have been prepared and set aside for that purpose.
The resorts are improving their facilities yearly, but are still relatively uncrowned and most pleasant places to ski. Adelboden at 1,353m and ski able to around 2,700m presents a nice option for skiers of, say, beginner to the good intermediate category, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Linked with Lenk, the duo becomes big league by anyone's standards.

Lenk, at 1,068m above the sea, has an abundance of skiing which complements Adelboden's, and adds to the value of the ski pass. Now if you take all this and add the skiing on the Elsigenalp to the pot, then you have some very nice skiing and some very good value in ski pass terms indeed. And what's more, the whole place is now linked by ski lifts with the opening of the new six seater cable railway completing the connection. The ski bus, which for more than 50 years had transported skiers (before the new lift system) is now a thing of the past.

If all this is not enough, six day pass holders are also entitled to a free day pass in the Gstaad super ski region as well as the Alpes Vaudoises. To get to the Adelboden/Lenk connection go to Speiz. Zürich is your best airport.
