Despite Luzern's size it has much in the way of culture to be proud of. Picasso, Erni, Toscanini, Wagner: resounding names that are as much a part of Luzern as the latest movies, the oldest glacial discoveries, exciting sports events, relaxing theatre evenings, loud Carnival folklore, muted tones in the concert hall, lively museums and the dead lion.

Alpineum, 3D-Alpine-Panorama

Swiss Transport Museum Most diversified Transport and Communications museum in Europe. Demonstrates the development and importance of transportation on land, water, in the air, through communication and aviation. Over one hundred original aircraft, locomotives, automobiles, cable-cars and boats.

IMAX® Film Theater A fantastic film experience. The screen is 7 stories high, 25 meters wide. Seating capacity 400. Different IMAX® films daily.

Hans Erni-Museum Over 300 works (paintings, sketches, prints, sculptures and book illustrations) of the well-known Swiss artist express his special relationship to technology and communication. Impressive mural "panta rhei" in the auditorium of the most important scientists of the Western world.

New Museum of Art Museum of Art in the Culture and Convention Centre Lucerne (KKL), built by French star architect Jean Nouvel. Temporary exhibitions of important contemporary art and of the collection, ranging from works of the 15th to the 20th century.

Picasso Museum Picasso in Luzern, in one of the city's most beautiful old buildings, the historic Am-Rhyn-House. Extraordinary collection of important works by Picasso from the last 20 years of his life, accompanied by the exciting exhibition, "Picasso, photographed by David Douglas Duncan" with nearly 200 photos.

Museum of Natural History One of the liveliest, most attractive, Natural History museums in Switzerland. Distinguished in 1987 with the "European Museum of the Year" award. Many live animals, "hands on" exhibits, mushroom computer, minerals, educational woodland pathway.

Historical Museum A collection based on Swiss and Luzern history in the old arsenal built in 1567. Original Gothic Weinmarkt fountain, Duke Leopold's coat of mail worn at the Slaughter of Sempach, "Courageous Carl's" golden seal and works by native glass blowers, goldsmiths and religious vestments and artifacts.

Richard Wagner-Museum  Former residence of the famous composer. Overview of his principal works. Collection of antique musical instruments.

Glacier Garden  Outstanding natural monument with gigantic glacial potholes and erratic blocks from the Ice Age 20,000 years ago, fossilized shells and palm leaves from 20 million years ago. Inside, the oldest relief maps of Switzerland, historical model of the city and a fun hall of mirrors.

Alpineum, 3D-Alpine-Panorama  Sensational large panoramic painting with amazing depth effect!  The most beautiful mountainous regions of Switzerland right in the city, the perfect illusion. One of the first three-dimensional representations depicting the beginnings of mountain tourism around 1900.  Pilatus, Rigi, Jungfrau, Monte Rosa - Gornergrat - Matterhorn and a climbing party on Mount Blanc.
